Mind Your Mind
School Project (2022)
We are currently living in a fast-paced, stressful, and anxiety-filled society, facing endless work tasks, distractions from social media, and information overload on a daily basis. In this chaotic world, more and more people are realizing the importance of inner peace and mental well-being. Therefore, we have decided to embrace meditation as the core and concept of our exhibition.
Meditation is not only a traditional practice, but also a shift in attitude and state of consciousness. Through the practice of focus and mindfulness, it helps us resist external distractions, calm the inner turmoil, and connect with ourselves and the world around us in a deeper way. Mindfulness, as a form of meditation, emphasizes bringing our attention back to the present moment and cultivating awareness of our own sensations, thoughts, and emotions.
In this exhibition, we aim to explore and convey the power and benefits of meditation through art pieces, interactive experiences, and educational activities. Visitors will have the opportunity to firsthand experience the unique charm of meditation and gain a deeper understanding of the practice of mindfulness and the science behind it. We will showcase various forms of meditation, ranging from formal seated meditation to mindfulness practices in everyday life, as well as meditation experiences expressed through artistic mediums such as painting and music.
As the initiator and primary organizer of this exhibition, I deeply understand and experience the positive impact of meditation, and I firmly believe in its importance to individuals and society. Through this project, I am dedicated to conveying this philosophy to participants and guiding them towards a more serene, conscious, and meaningful life. In this endeavor, the 2022 graduate students from the Design program at Monash University, along with the Monash Mindfulness and Meditation Research Center and Monash University Library, have collaborated and organized related activities to ensure that participants can deeply experience the value of meditation in this exhibition and provide them with inspiration and assistance.
Through this exhibition, we hope to awaken participants' awareness of inner peace and self-care, inspiring their desire for balance and meaning in their busy lives. We believe that meditation can be a powerful tool to help alleviate anxiety, enhance focus, strengthen emotional management, and cultivate deeper levels of happiness in daily life.

Three Sub-Themes
The exhibition "mind your mind" is thoughtfully organized into three captivating sub-themes, each offering a unique exploration of the human mind and its interactions. These sub-themes are Mindfulness & Meditation, States of Consciousness, and Human Connection & Disconnection.
In the section dedicated to Mindfulness & Meditation, participants will delve into the practice of mindfulness and meditation, discovering the transformative power of being fully present in the moment. Through immersive displays, interactive experiences, and guided exercises, visitors will learn practical techniques to cultivate mindfulness in their daily lives. This sub-theme aims to highlight the benefits of mindfulness and meditation in reducing stress, enhancing focus, and fostering overall well-being.
States of Consciousness is another intriguing sub-theme that delves into the various states and dimensions of human consciousness. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore altered states of consciousness, such as dreams, flow, and synesthesia. Through multimedia installations, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the complexities and mysteries of the human mind.
The sub-theme of Human Connection & Disconnection invites participants to reflect on the impact of modern society on our interpersonal relationships and sense of connection. Through interactive exhibits, and artistic expressions, visitors will explore the challenges posed by technology, social media, and the fast-paced lifestyle, which can often lead to disconnection and isolation. This section aims to spark conversations and inspire individuals to cultivate authentic connections and nurture meaningful relationships in their lives.
Branding
I am responsible for the branding section of the exhibition, which includes designing the logo for the entire exhibition and the logos for sub-themes.
The main logo uses a Wordmark Logo, effectively highlighting the theme of the exhibition in a clear and concise manner. It immediately captures the interest of those intrigued by the theme, directing their focus to the exhibition's content.
For the sub-theme logos, as the theme of meditation and mindfulness originates from the East, I have creatively transformed Eastern ideographic characters, rearranging and combining them into simple geometric shapes that represent the concepts of Mindfulness & Meditation, States of Consciousness, and Human Connection & Disconnection.
The different designs of the main theme and sub-themes skillfully convey the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, showcasing respect and understanding for the diversity of meditation cultures, adding depth and allure to the exhibition.

Mindfulness - Learn it, Practise it.
For the Mind Your Mind exhibition, I created a short animation to promote the informal practice of mindfulness, which is featured prominently on the main screen.
This work is part of two introduction animation videos created with Shunsuke Mori, my peer Master of Design student. Both of us received the Multimedia Design High Achievement Award for this capstone project.
